Seal Coat (Fog Seal)

Seal Coat (Fog Seal) is scheduled for

8/7 to 8/8

 7 A.M. to 7 P.M.  -  Weather permitting

This is an asphalt surface treatment that seals the surface of the new chip seal, which extends the life of the road.  The seal coat is the final step of this pavement preservation process.   Prior to the seal coat application, the road surface must be swept clean.

Please remove all vehicles from the street on the scheduled dates.  Vehicles remaining on the road will towed at the owner’s expense.  The work will be postponed one day if rain is forecast.

Avoid any watering of plants near the street because the street needs to be dry before the seal coat is applied.  The fresh seal coat must remain dry for 24 hours after it is applied to properly cure.

There will be inconveniences to traffic during the project.  During the seal coat process, one lane will be sprayed at a time.  The “wet” lane will be marked with cones.  However, roads under 20’ in width are too narrow, so they will be completely closed to apply the fog seal.  The dry time for the seal coat is 2 to 4 hours (depending on temperature and humidity).  Please drive slowly on the fresh seal coat.
